Akon‘s ’Akoin’ social ecosystem cryptocurrency to start trading on Bittrex on November 11.
As per a release shared with CryptoSlate, Akoin, the cryptocurrency created by renowned popstar Akon to enhance social possibilities and access for African entrepreneurs, has announced its premier listing on crypto exchange Bittrex.
Bittrex is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, posting $41 million in daily transaction volumes. It is one of only 14 exchanges globally ranked as highly trustworthy by Coinmetrics’ Trusted Volume System, having passed all three trustworthiness checks for correlation, volume, and qualitative analysis by the analytical firm.
Akoin will be released on Bittrex on November 11, based on the Stellar network, enabling users to exchange and transact using the coin.
The Akoin project, led by global artist Akon, is a blockchain platform dedicated to bringing a trusted digital currency to African countries suffering from poor and over-inflated fiat currencies that prohibit people from accessing financial services.
The main goal of the project is to enhance social opportunities and connectivity for millions of people living in rural and remote regions of Africa who lack internet connectivity and, thus, the global economy. In Senegal, the project is expected to begin before it is extended across the continent.
The Akoin Ecosystem will provide token holders with access to a wide range of decentralized apps (dApps) and apps and tools to connect, engage and scale businesses in regions such as Africa as per the announcement, while at the same time providing their communities with a positive social impact.
Jon Karas, Akoin ‘s president, and co-founder said the listing was a big move for the company. He also added:
Getting Akoin listed on a top exchange generates the Akoin token’s global recognition and liquidity while taking us ever closer to realising our vision of bringing greater opportunity and social connexion to individuals across Africa who want to create, expand and establish their own businesses.
Bittrex Global’s CEO Tom Albright shared the line of thought:
One of the greatest unrealized promises of the blockchain remains to use financial resources to support those without access to banking and credit. We are extremely excited about Akoin’s long awaited launch.
The progress of Akoin
Akoin is now pushing big global alliances forward, as previously stated by CryptoSlate, adding massive usefulness to the Akoin Token.
Akoin revealed earlier this year that its native token would be the key currency and central payment channel for Western Kenya’s upcoming Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), prepared for use by residents, employees, and growing businesses of the city.
In parts of Africa, Akoin is also setting up UN-backed Akoin Impact Opportunity Hubs to allow young people to earn while studying, focusing on Blockchain and AI-based education opportunities.
And now the Akoin project, with a Bittrex listing, seems to be just getting underway.
